A Wire "Hanger" attaches to the dome light with a common hose clamp
|
Kyle came up with a fairly simple solution to hang and store the pilot/copilot headsets when not in use. A small headset “hanger” is attached to the cabin light located on the ceiling between the front seats. The headset wires are snaked behind the front shoulder harnesses to the headset jacks above the front door, and they should not interfere during cabin egress.
The idea came from owning the plain flap SN30. We slide the headsets over the long, manual flap handle that is located near the ceiling. When we took delivery of SN48 with the electric fowler flaps, there wasn’t the nice flap handle to hang the headsets. The dome light should still be functional and able to adjust the size of the light beam with the front ring.
What you will need:
(1) 1 - 2.5" Hose Clamp
(2) 1 - 6 - 8" long "stiff wire hanger"
(3) Black spray paint
(4) electrical tape
Installation Steps:
(1) Wrap electrical tape around the interior light casing where the hose clamp will be to prevent harming the finish
(2) Modify your stiff wire hanger to look similar to photo 3 below, so that the ends slide over the hose clamp photo 4
(3) Slude assembly over the light casing, on top of the electrical tape
(4) Tighten the hose clamp set screw
(5) Snake the headset cables behind the shoulder harnesses. I usually orient the boom mic for the pilot headsets on the right ear, and just the opposite for the copilot (left ear). This will prevent the headset cables from crossing your body.
